How to install plugins

Plugins help expand Blender

We use them for multiple things, from aligning UV maps automatically, to creating cables with ease. Plugins add much more to Blender, so the devs can focus on the importance updates, whilst plugin devs can make the niche stuff.

Some plugins are FOSS, whilst others are paid content. To find extensions, you can use the built-in Add-on browser, or websites like Superhive.

Add-on Browser

Blender has a built-in Add-on browser, allowing for easy installation of plugins right from Blender itself. To open it head to the Blender Preferences in Edit>Preferances and click on the Get Extensions button. You can search for plugins here, like the GTA Plugin Sollumz

Select Sollumz and click the "Install" button to install it, easy as that! Feel free to search up other plugins too.

Installing from file

When you buy a plugin from somewhere like Superhive you get a .zip file containing the plugin files. To install these plugins we need to select the zip archive in Blenders Add-on section. For this example, we will use PowerSave. A powerful saving tool allowing for autosaves and more, it is also only a dollar.

Like above, navigate to Edit>Preferances>Get Extensions. This time click the drop-down arrow and select "Install from Disk", navigate to, and select your PowerSave zip archive, click Install from Disk.
